Labour Start Sets Up New Social Media Website
Eric Lee founder of the international organisation Labour Start, which supplies this website with national and international news feeds which all Unionsafety readers can access; has set up a website aimed solely at trade union members, activists and officials.
In essence LabourStart is an online news service maintained by a global network of almost 900 volunteers, which aims to serve the international trade union movement by collecting and disseminating information - and by assisting unions in campaigning and in other ways.
The new website, UnionBook, is the new social networking website for trade unionists. If you are a union member, this site is for you.
Visit UnionBook today at http://www.unionbook.org
What you can do on UnionBook:
• Make friends with other trade unionists from around the
world
• Join groups that interest you – or set up new ones
• Host your own blog
• Upload pictures, music and videos
• Chat live with other trade unionists
• Post status updates that automatically update your Twitter
or Facebook pages
So how is UnionBook any different from Facebook?
We have no ads.
We respect your privacy.
UnionBook exists to help trade unionists organize, agitate and
educate – not to make profit.
But what if I already have a Facebook account?
Keep using it. Facebook and UnionBook have different purposes.
Both Derek Maylor, Chair of the NW BTU H&S Co-ord and Unionsafety website editor Chris Ingram are on Unionbook!
Derek has also set up a UnionBook group called Unionsafety which members of UnionBook can join.
